

About the Professor Mustafa Abba Library
The Professor Mustafa Abba Library is the central academic library of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, established to support the College’s core mandates of teaching, learning, research, and community service.Since 1974, when the institution was founded as the Advanced Teachers College, through its transformation into the Federal College of Education in 1989, and to date, FCE Yola has consistently demonstrated its commitment to excellence as a teacher training institution of repute within the sub-region. This enduring legacy is sustained through quality teaching, rigorous scholarship, and dedicated service. The Professor Mustafa Abba Library serves as a critical pillar in sustaining and advancing this tradition of academic excellence. Named in honour of Professor Mustafa Abba, a distinguished scholar and educationist, the Library functions as the intellectual hub of the College, providing access to high-quality print and electronic information resources that support the academic curriculum and comply with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) minimum standards. The Library is professionally managed by qualified librarians and organised into four (4) functional service units—Readers’ Services, Technical Services, Serial Services, and E-Library Services—to ensure efficient and effective information organisation, access, and service delivery. Its collections include textbooks, scholarly journals, reference materials, government publications, theses and projects, audiovisual resources, and a growing range of electronic and digital information resources accessible through the E-Library. Through the strategic integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), structured information literacy programmes, and comprehensive research support services, the Professor Mustafa Abba Library continues to empower students, academic staff, and researchers, while reinforcing the College’s long-standing reputation for academic excellence and service to society.
